Our Tennis Programs

A mini-revolution is brewing all around the world.  A scaled-down tennis format that is used by many countries to teach young children tennis. This approach, called Kids Tennis, uses a systematic progression of court sizes, balls, and racquets, to scale the game down to an appropriate level for 6-12 year old.  It allows young players to learn and play the game more quickly, efficiently and successfully.

Mississauga Little Aces structured many of our wonderful programs on Kids Tennis!

The Minor League – Team Tennis

The Minor League is a tennis program that provides kids aged 6 to 12 the opportunity to play against others of similar ability in a team environment. It provides participants the opportunity to combine practice and play, with a focus on skill development through match play. The minor league promotes a game-based approach to stimulate and maintain excitement and enjoyment for young participants. The League has a format similar to the hockey and soccer house league model.

This program is structured on Kids Tennis, and has 5 divisions:

Division 1 – Red Ball 1/2 court, ages 6-8
Division 2 – Orange Ball 3/4 court, ages 8-10
Division 3 – Green Dot Ball Modified Full Court, ages 8-11
Division 4 – Green Dot Ball Full Court, ages 10-12
Division 5 – Regular Ball Full Court, ages 10-12

The Minor League runs three times a year, in the Fall, Winter and Spring, at the Ontario Racquet Club. This program is open to the public – it is affordable, accessible and accomplished! Most players progress through the Divisions. Players that joined Division 1 five years ago are still with us playing in Division 5 today!

Little Aces Wheelchair Tennis

From the get-go, the strategy of our initiative is inclusive: tennis is a sport for both able bodies and disable bodies. In 2012, we started a wheelchair tennis program for youngsters with physical disabilities. This program currently runs three times a year, in the Fall, Winter and Spring, at the Ontario Racquet Club. We have, in the past, Little Aces players integrated with the Minor League.
